The Railroad Street Project

Railroad Street in downtown Hartwell is the focus of TORCH's first project. The project supports our mission to encourage economic development, complete historic preservation, and provide health and wellness opportunities.

Railroad Street Park Project

The purpose of the Railroad Street Park Project is to restore the Hartwell Railroad Depot and rebuild the railroad platform. The vision is for the park to become a community centerpiece for Hartwell.
The surrounding area will become a health and wellness park and Farmer’s Market for the citizens and visitors of Hartwell and Hart County.

The project is supported by the City of Hartwell and Hart County.

Works in progress:

  • The RR Depot will become a small museum and retail store.
  • The platform will be used for a weekend Farmer's Market, outdoor eating location, and stage for outdoor concerts.
  • A children's playground area will be installed.

The future of RR St Park

The RR Depot Marketplace and Farmers Market will provide the public with access to local growers and producers while preserving our historic railroad and depot.
In addition, this park will create a downtown community centerpiece location with the ability to be used for outdoor concerts, art in the park events, and fitness walks.
At full build-out, the park will add five to six new attractions to the downtown Hartwell landscape and stimulate revitalization of both Depot and Railroad Streets.
